New Music - 10 Years - Feeding the wolves

Band: 10 Years
Album: Feeding The WolvesMembers: Jesse Hasek- Vocals, Ryan “Tater” Johnson- Guitar, Lewis Cosby- Bass, Brian Vodinh- Guitar/Drums

The local boys from knoxville. Naturally I may be a little biased on the matter because they are local, but 10 Years has managed to deliver yet another amazing. The cd starts out with the hardest hitting song on the cd "Shoot it out". That being said the cd still delivers on every level you could hope for with strong vocals, catchy beats, and beautifully rich melodies. This cd is a strong effort that usually isnt seen from bands on their 4th album. The boys have continued to evolve to a stronger and more lasting sound.

The one song that has grabbed my attention the most of the cd is "Waking up the ghost". It is amazingly hooky, and has a an odd beat to it. If you are to listen to one song to determine if you will buy the album this is the one...

Religious BS

There was a story this morning on CNN about a group called My Faith My Voice. They are a "grass-roots effort by American Muslims from across the country." They have put together a commercial that as of right now is only on youtube. They are trying to raise money to put it on the air. I have watched the video and it is well put together and gives a common message. "Just because we are muslim does not make us terrorists." I think this commercial sends a positive message that i fear too many Americans are either to ignorant or to afraid to listen to. This is proven by two other news stories in the past weeks. first is the controversy over the "Ground-Zero Mosque" which is 2 blocks away. The second is a local story from here in TN. The construction site of a local Muslim Center was vandalized and the construction equipment was set on fire. Honestly this makes no sense to me. If you keep them from building the center, does that mean they will no longer practice their religion? Well I dont know, if i come and burn down your church will you stop praying to god? Please check out the video below and try to keep an open mind about the world we live in...

For all future reference I am not trying to offend anyone but sometimes religious sects can be so pugnacious...

The Walking Dead

"AMC has greenlit The Walking Dead as a six-episode series based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The Walking Dead tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. "

Finally a tv show that is dark, gritty, and hopefully downright amazing. The trailer posted below shows potential and the director states that his rulebook is based upon George A Romero's Night of the Living Dead. So lets recap... Its a tv show based on a comic book series that uses a classic zombie movie as a rule book... Confused yet? It is set to premiere on Halloween. Looks like where ever we do stay on our anniversary better have AMC.

Steampunk Literature Suggestion

I recently was perusing the book store trying to find something other than R.A. Salvatore. What i found seemed intriguing. A steampunk adventure by the name of "BoneShaker". Now i have only made it about half way through the book, but it has been so good up till now i cant help sharing it with you... Yes you... No not you damn it... YOU! Anyway, it has a very strong story so far and the author does a superb job of making you feel the grittiness of the world she has created. For a full synopsis go here... http://us.macmillan.com/boneshaker

For Cherie Priest's site...

I will keep an eye on this author...you should too...

Christmas

My wife and I always put the majority of our Christmas shopping off until income tax time, or as we like to call it "New Christmas". We get the kids toys and clothes, and usually one or two items for each other. This year she had a really good idea. We get the kids presents like usual, but we make each other something for Christmas. THIS IS BRILLIANT! Not only do we both get to be creative we also get to create something of emotional importance to each other. Be honest how often do you "craft" something for your significant other. Exactly! So now comes the hard part... What the hell am I going to make?...

Nazi Propaganda

There is no doubt that World War 2 was on of the worst conflicts this world has ever seen. There we atrocities committed for which no forgiveness can be given. However in my opinion this was an important time for art in a positive way. Take the Nazi Propaganda posters for example. The Nazi's were masters of fear and discipline. Yet most of the posters released during that time were emotionally tied. The artists of these posters knew how important it was to keep a positive overtone no matter what was taking place on the front lines or for that matter in the concentration camps. A dominant detail throughout the posters where depictions of the character in a pleasant mood. Always smiling or looking as if they were proud to be german. The posters also had a common theme of incorporating families having dinner or enjoying each others company. I think that the nazi propaganda of World War 2 was very effective in its goals...
